He did his undergraduate (from 1969 to 1973) and master degree work (in 1974) at Cornell University and obtained his Eng.Sc.D. from Columbia University in 1978. He has various publications in academic and professional journals and is the author of one probability text book specifically intended for operations research/mathematical sciences readers. His project experience working with major organizations and corporations, on production management as well as service operations, has also resulted in many of his application oriented publications (- recent ones downloadable here).
Besides his secondment as a principal lecturer to the Department of Applied Statistics and Operational Research at the City University of Hong Kong in 1990-92, he has spent his sabbaticals as an adjunct associate professor of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Columbia University during 1984-85, and as a visiting professor of the Department of Information and Decision Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the Fall of 1995. He was also a visiting scientist at the School of Operations Research and Industrial Engineering at Cornell University during Fall 2000; and a visiting professor of the Department of Management Science and Engineering at Stanford University during Summer and Fall of 2005.
