Title: Hypercontractivity and Information Theory

Abstract: This is an overview talk on some recent developments that has led to characterizations of hypercontractivity using information measures. I will then demonstrate why such ideas may be useful for proving new optimality results in multiuser information theory. Finally, I will state some of the new hypercontractive inequalities that have been derived using these equivalent characterizations.
