Closing Remarks

Mok Ngaiming, Department of Mathematics, University of Hong Kong

Happy Birthday, Professor Wong! It is such a pleasure to be able to share with your former colleagues and students their feelings on this joyous occasion of your ninetieth birthday. Everything reminds us of the great tradition that was developed in this Department of Mathematics thanks to your vision and leadership, a tradition of putting the emphasis on concrete problems, a tradition in which rigorous training in Mathematics is integrated with pioneering research, a tradition in which the Department contributes to the mathematical scene both locally and in the region, and propagates its ideas internationally through its activities and through the training of able students. Works of your students all over the world are testimony to the legacy for which you have laid the foundation, a legacy which will guide us through our work in the future.

Many of us who are here would not fail to have the sentiment of belonging to a big family, a family unified by our devotion to Mathematics, unified by the model which you have set for all of us. We are very fortunate to be in your company, and to be under your guidance for long years to come!

Happy Birthday again, Professor Wong!
